FAQs

Which skis & ski boots are best for ski touring?

This question is not easy to answer. The choice of ski and ski boot depends on the one hand on the skier’s ability and on the other hand on the condition and length of the ski tour. A middle ground is formed here by downhill-oriented touring ski boots and a touring ski with a center width of about 90mm and a length slightly shorter than body height. You are also well advised to use a lightweight binding.

What is the length of an average ski tour?

The length of a ski tour ranges roughly between 4 and 6 kilometers and 800 to 1,200 meters in altitude. First ski tours should at best not be longer than 3 kilometers and 500 meters in altitude, otherwise the fun could quickly be lost.

What does a ski touring day with Freeskiguide.com look like?

We meet at an agreed location and check the equipment for functionality. The tour planning is already done in advance by your guide. Depending on the snow and weather conditions, the tour may start with the support of the cable cars before we complete an ascent of between 400 and 1,200 meters in altitude, adapted to your individual preferences. We are guaranteed to be rewarded with a great descent.
